Great recap post! It's hard to keep up with all the interesting stuff these days.
A friend of mine has had a terrific music and production podcast going for the past few years. CAROPOP is the creation of Mark Caro, former entertainment writer for the Chicago Tribune and one of the best interviewers I've ever listened to. Robyn Hitchcock, Dave Davies, Adrian Belew, Graham Parker, Al Jardine, Gerald Casale of Devo, Stevie Van Zandt -- fascinating stories about staying creative amid the chaos of life, health, collaborators and the biz. Highly recommended. https://www.caropop.com/caropopcast
And since you asked, I'll go ahead and share a couple of my posts here - strictly as a favour to you, you understand, as you asked nicely. I'm selfless that way.
Second, a very unserious short story about a bunch of elephants undertaking a mock-heroic journey for basically no reason, because, well, that struck me as a funny idea for a story: https://smalldarklight.substack.com/p/march-of-the-elephants
Thanks for asking about our stuff. I’ve been serializing my novel on Substack since December 2021. It’s about a young man who visits his family in Norway one summer. It’s got a novelist dog in it. It has some funny bits and a lot of absurdity. I put a lot of effort in my prose. I don’t have any paywalls on my page. I put music and other stuff there too. The address is jmcbride.Substack.com. But you can also navigate there from my profile page. Let me know if you have any questions.
I love me some cartoons that slap you right up side the head! Perhaps the masochist in me is why I subscribe to the American Bystander. Keep slapping me silly fellas!
The Tetris movie is a lot of fun! At one point, a prototype Game Boy is shot in the same way an ancient treasure would be shown in an Indiana Jones movie and I loved it. Well worth a free one week trial to Apple TV+.

Jennifer Egan and Graham Parker! I'm impressed by the range of interviewees.
And Mark always asks smart questions and is super prepared.
Keep up the good work Bystanders!

First, a serious post about tragedy and what to do in the face of human suffering: https://smalldarklight.substack.com/p/the-banshees-of-inisherin-and-the

And finally, a more recent short story that's back to serious mode (although I tried to throw a few dark laughs in there): https://smalldarklight.substack.com/p/aaron-and-sofia
Thanks friends!
I just had the most interesting dream ever, but you're going to have to beg me to tell you about it.
C'mon, tell us.

As for the shameless self-promotion, I'll bite. Here's my Spaghetti Saturday/Easter Sunday nod to those demented Chick Comics: https://www.erflynncomics.com/p/somebody-go-walk-the-dogma
Good one.
Hey hey thanks thanks!

Good tip, and what's next for video game adaptations? I hope someone's working on a Frogger film, or maybe NBA Jam. Kirby?
I mean, there's an Air Jordans movie in theaters now. Can an NBA Jam movie be far behind?
