i recently made a feature film called "Molli and Max in the Future" that we like to describe as "When Harry Met Sally" meets "Futurama" - we premiered last month at SXSW but we're having our NYC premiere next thursday (May 4th!) as opening night of the Lower East Side FF - if you live in NYC come on out! https://www.lesfilmfestival.com/program/opening-night-film-2023
I run a mixtape club called Green Bananas. If Wednesday is your cup of tea, then I think you'll enjoy this mix that's full of crispy modern nineties sounds.
I write a lot of slice of life humor. Since I’m a fan of The Big Lebowski and since it’s the 25th anniversary of said film, I went to a screening. That’s when this happened.
I'm more of a Serious Man guy, and god only knows what sort of hell would be unleashed by a guy pulling that paraquat shtick at the Serious Man screening.
Thanks Michael! I think you're right pulling that schtick at a screening of A Serious Man, or really any of the Coen bros. dramas, might be even worse.
Yeah, we've paused Submittable while we figure out how it fits into our mix.
At the moment the right thing is to send them to us (me) at 251. While this is submission to 251, if there's anything that is right for the magazine then we'll make sure it gets in print. (Also, by default, anything published in 251 gets seriously considered for inclusion in the magazine.)
I'll use this moment to shout out to the universe: I love gag cartoons, and I also love illustrated submissions that don't perfectly fit into that mold. I'd love to publish more illustrated verse. I love color. I love funny pictures.
I wrote a bankruptcy joke in 3 words:
Origami Company Folds

I have been following all the great press and reviews you've been sharing -- excited for your NYC premiere!
Okay, let's do this.

And here's a satirical piece about the reaction to the Cleveland Indians becoming the Cleveland Guardians.

Does listening to Tuva Throat music and Richard Feynman talks while I'm at the gym count under the "Music Chat" Category?
Which talks? And uh yeah I'd like some Tuva Throat recommendations.
You can get both in one album: Back Tuva Future. https://www.allmusic.com/album/back-tuva-future-mw0000047139
The music is kinda like Popeye meets country meets underlying Feynman nonsense talk. Intrigued?
You asked for it. A couple of my latest Substack satire pieces here.

If you insist! I entered a post-apocalyptic hog farm simulator into this year’s Spring Thing festival of interactive fiction.

If you play two or more games, you can nominate them for silly made-up ribbons like “Best Dressed” and “Nice Hog!”
