Thank you, Bob! This is all anyone needed to know. I'm hungry just looking at the food from JohnBrownBBQ. (I was struck with stomach flu the night before the game, so I watched the Gatorade shower with longing. "So much waste!")
Great recap of the game, genuine and funny. Illustrations are really appreciated.
An event that has been around for fifty nine years, and I am older than it is.
I was never much of a sports fan growing up. Met Joe Namath the year after his golden moment.
I finally started paying attention to the sport when I was playing a weekly football pool at work. I started watching the scores on Sunday, and the Monday night game.
Settling into adult life I started watching more and more. But now I am much more of a baseball fan. The NFL is just something to get me through the withdrawal after the MLB season ends.
This game was mostly forgettable, and even leading up to the game, I could sense from media and others that they were just going though the motions.
Dan, if you're a baseball fan with a sense of humor, you might like the site I curate, Bardball.com, which celebrates the season with doggerel, song and cartoons from fans around the world every day. We have a substack, so you can just get it in your inbox on Saturday morning.
