I love owls too, but in a more low-key (i.e. cheapskate) way, like the inch-high owl figurine I got decades ago in a box of Red Rose tea that still (the owl, not the tea) helps clutter my life. The day I met my wife-to-be I decided to fall in love with her when I saw the plaster owl statuette next to her stereo. Now it's helping to clutter our bookshelf. I still love my wife and our owl.

BTW history, comedy, and the Beatles are enough for a rich, fulfilled, satisfying life almost anywhere.

Thank you, Mike, for so aptly reminding me why I've grown to loathe most social media. No matter how much it might prove useful as a forum to get my art seen, its overall crapulous mediocrity of navel gazing, short attention span nonsense induces acid reflux whenever I consider, "Oh, one more like or non-paying subscribe will really put me into the big leagues!"

My tolerance and patience for it all has expired. I'd rather just sit back, create better art on my own timeline without the false pressures from the 24/7 dancing doom scroll parade.

However having said that, I do welcome creating art on a deadline from an editor of a prestigious publication (wink), because I still see book/magazine publishing as vital...and it also keeps me away from ranting at the idiots on Twitter.

Where was a I going with this? Oh right... I hope the new Bystander gives the bird to the monoculture of infotainment.
