Hey-hey, it’s Saturday! This is Laura Fox—General Manager and Inventory Liquidation Specialist here at American Bystander. Also, aspiring Antiques Roadshow appraiser. (Return my calls, please..!)
I’ve emailed and texted both the Mikes I work with and neither of them is replying to me this morning so here I am with another half-reckless proposition for my favorite band of ne’er-do-wells on the internet: YOU GUYS.
See, here’s the thing…we’re stopping the presses.
No, no—don’t worry. We’re not going to stop making the magazine. We’re actually going to be expanding Bystander more than ever in the coming twelve months. With the publication of Out of Line, and Issue #26, we’re starting our biggest, most jammed-packed year yet.
But, print-on-demand back issues? Yeah, that’s done. That’s over, man. Hold on to your back issues like they were a Mickey Mantle rookie card because you just might want to sell them on eBay one day. We’re not planning on printing more.
(MG told me to tell you that he reserves the right to do limited edition print runs for funsies. “Funsies” is of course my word, not his. He’s got no plans for this, though. The operative word here is limited.)
So where does that leave us today? Why am I even telling you this? Well here’s the what—
We’re in the process of pulling our print-on-demand issues from Amazon—although if you’re outside of the U.S. and want to purchase new print-on-demand back issues before they’re gone literally forever this is probably your best bet. Once those listings are removed, they won’t be relisted, ever.
We have extremely limited first-run print issues in our own inventory that are for sale only on our website. Hear me carefully on this, guys. Some issues only have one copy available. No, I’m not going to tell you which ones, you freaks. But, yeah, when they’re gone, they’re gone. We’re not makin’ more. We’ve got around 600 total. Not a lot.
So why are we doing this? Other than, you know…the fact that I crave excitement in my life and MG wants to clean out his closet?
Remember in this post when MG said to hang on to your back issues? This is what he was talking about. We want these to appreciate for our readers. If they’re always available, as print-on-demand that’s not going to happen.
So that’s that. The store is open, and the inventory has been updated from “infinite amounts” to what we have in stock. You can access our shop here.
Have a great weekend, and boy do we have a treat for you paid folks tomorrow!
—Laura
P.S. Oh! I almost forgot! The pdf versions will be available always and forever.
